After he left the FBI, Mitchell S. Milby has been outside general counsel for engineers and has focused his practice in the AEC and energy industries.

He consults with his clients through all phases of project development: company formation and transition planning, contract drafting and negotiation, and litigation/trial work, including arbitration and appeals.

In addition to design & construction matters, his clients retain him for:

  • copyright claims,
  • payment/fee disputes,
  • lien claims,
  • partnership disputes,
  • company formation and succession planning (buy-sell agreements and ownership transfers),
  • employment/independent contractor agreements,
  • and non-disclosure and non-compete agreements

He is an honors graduate of Vanderbilt University, where he studied Russian (he is not friends with Putin and wouldn't admit it anyway), and received his law degree and environmental law certification from Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College. He is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and has received the highest rating, 5.0 of 5.0, from the national rating service, Martindale-Hubble. His articles have been published in the Texas Bar Journal and the Dallas Bar Association and you can follow his design blog on LinkedIn by connecting with him. When he is not working, he spends his time with his wife and 4 children (ages 2 to 10 years) - he looks forward to catching up on sleep in about 25 or so years. For more information, visit his website, www.milbyllc.com.
