Born in Lahore, Pakistan, the son of Frances Boyd and the late Dr. Claude C. Boyd dedicated Texas educator, United States foreign civil servant and WWII veteran, Dr. Mark Boyd has been recognized as one of the most diversely skilled, talented, and experienced environmental and civil engineers in Texas. The Texas Engineer of the Year honor was conferred in large part because of Dr. Boyd's successful development, execution, and delivery of specialized engineering solutions over the past twelve years as LCA Environmental, Inc's Managing Partner and Principal Engineer working on high profile critical infrastructure projects for water districts, toll road authorities, public/private partnerships, TxDOT (districts throughout Texas), City of Dallas, City of Fort Worth, other public sector clients, numerous independent school districts, and private sector clients. The award also reflects recognition of Dr. Boyd's 25+ year lifetime body of work including academic accomplishments of earning a Ph.D. (1991) from Southern Methodist University's Bobby B. Lyle School of Engineering and publishing seminal research about North Texas storm water pollution processes.

Dr. Boyd has also produced award winning technical papers about notable professional practice projects building and designing roadways and hospitals. Dr. Boyd's service to the academic community did not stop when he earned his doctorate, as he has served with high student and faculty satisfaction ratings for the past 10 years as an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the SMU Lyle School of Engineering teaching graduate courses in surface and groundwater contaminant fate and transport mechanics. Dr. Boyd has also served on dissertation committees as a mentor to engineering doctoral candidates adding to the body of engineering knowledge. Dr. Boyd's constant service and leadership to the community are reflected in this award, including servant-leader work for TSPE Dallas Chapter (2010 Dallas Engineer of the Year), Boy Scouts of America (Your Extraordinary Service Award), TSPE's engineering scholarship programs, and American Society of Civil Engineers at all levels. Most recently in May 2012, for his accomplishments and specialized knowledge in the field, the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers conferred upon Dr. Boyd the title of Diplomate, Water Resources Engineer.

Happily married for 28 years to Monica Fatima Zalaquett of La Paz, Bolivia, Dr. Boyd has two college-age kids he is very proud of, Natalie Nassim, a University of North Texas Freshman, and Stephen Hickel, a Southern Methodist University Junior.
